Dating women online is more common than ever before
Think about it. The Internet has been around (at least available for most everyone) for over fifteen years. And in that timeframe, the English-speaking world has learned to trust (to some extent) the Internet, the information it provides, and the reliability of those sources providing the information. This certainly includes dating women websites.
While there are a few very large players in the online dating business, most notably eHarmony, LavaLife, and PlentyOfFish, people have learned to recognize that there are other websites that cater to their particular dating styles, whether it’s normal men-dating-women, or it’s a Christian dating website, or same sex dating, or other topics such as dating women with children, swinger websites, mixed race, same race, etc.
In 1995 it was difficult, yet possible to meet women online, through web forums, newgroups, email lists, and other classified advertising methods, posts, and whatnot. While there were some dating websites even then, they weren’t the vast formulaic sources that are prevalent today online.
And with the strength of these dating websites, more and more people are gaining acceptance of the methods of dating women online, to the extent that it is no longer a novelty or a fluke. Online dating is a legitimate form of dating, and probably more organized and effective than many of the traditional telephone dating services.
While a decade ago it might have been unusual to meet couples who had met online, in 2011, it is far more common to identify couples who have met through an online dating service like those mentioned above, and there is no surprise to learn how successful these electronic matchmaking services have been.
There may have been a stigma ten years ago to put yourself on a matchmaking website, putting yourself out there for anyone on the Internet (seemingly) to see that you were single and desperate for romance. But that is no longer the case, as the next generation of singles are mostly computer-savvy, and meeting women online is as common as watching a movie on a laptop computer.
Certainly the Internet hasn’t eliminated traditional ways for people to meet, but for those who may have had difficulties meeting people in normal social circumstances, dating women they meet on the Internet might be that cog in the wheel of love that may not have got the motor running in “Real Life”.
I expect online dating to progress and evolve along with the rest of the Internet, but in this day and age, the industry seems to be doing quite well, at least those successful online dating matches will agree.
